Welcoming a wonderful new product to our Yolngu range.
Gadayka is the local and traditional name (scientific name is Eucalyptus Tetrodonta) given to this plant by the local custodians, the Yolŋu people, who have used this plant for 60,000+ years for its potential to relieve respiratory ailments.
Gadayka is the name specifically given to the new growth and purple leaves of the local Eucalyptus trees and wild-harvested from Yolŋu Country in the remote north of Australia in North East Arnhem Land.
A plant scientifically and traditionally known for its antimicrobial and vaporising properties, we are proud to create a natural balm to help assist with the following:
- Soothe nasal congestion
- Sinus pressure
- Cold and flu symptoms
Our Gadayka balm is ideal for those prone to a blocked nose or tickly cough. It can be applied topically to the chest, back, throat, around the nose or soles of the feet.
This balm is not suitable for babies or to use on children under two years of age.

Supporting Indigenous Wisdom Keepers
With the wisdom and knowledge of this plant being passed down through generations in traditional cultural customs, we are very honoured and fortunate to be able to share this balm and plant with you.

The botanical used in this balm is wild-harvested by hand on Yolŋu Country using traditional methods and 50% of net profits support Yolŋu Elder, advisor and wisdom keeper, Ms Djapirri Mununggirritj who is dedicated to ensuring the ancient traditions are kept alive with her younger generations. The Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) of the native botanical used in this balm remains with Djapirri, not Gimiyala.
Each year Gimiyala also supports the wider local Yolŋu community with educational sessions (taught by Djapirri) and balm donations to Elders, patients in hospital, local schools, community centres, age care centres and more. Keeping the knowledge and trust in native plants alive within Indigenous communities is one of our core company values. It is through your support we can continue to make this happen.
